TypeCal Symposium 2019 brings together students, artists, academics, entrepreneurs and industry professionals to present topics in typography, design, calligraphy, current innovations in the field, and areas for development.

A series of educational and inspiring talks revolve around the topic of “Intersection” as it pertains to typography and calligraphy. This is in conjunction with technical and experimental workshops led by nationally and internationally renowned typographers, calligraphers, and scholars.



TypeCal Symposium 2019 is honored to welcome and present the following speakers as they share their vast knowledge, experience and passion.

The goal is to build and foster dialog, innovation and synergy through this regional and global platform
by enabling access to these experiences that will take calligraphy and type design to the next level.

About us

TypeCal was born out of a vision between academics and practicing calligraphers and designers who were engaging the community and felt there was a visible need to establish a focused and specialized platform and a springboard for dialog and communication that will connect the region to further encourage and foster innovation and development in both typography design and calligraphy.
